MPD releases still images of man with hatchet in officer-involved shooting - Best Murfreesboro Lawyer
Murfreesboro Police Department has released still images from body-worn camera footage showing a man brandishing a hatchet as he charged at officers. The officers shot the man to stop the threat.
MPD officers responded to the Clarion Inn & Suites at 6:53 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, to serve a warrant. The man they sought refused to leave his hotel room. Eventually, the door opened, and he charged at the officers with the hatchet. He was shot several times. Officers immediately began administering first aid until Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived and took over medical treatment.
No officers or hotel guests were injured.
At the request of District Attorney General Jennings Jones, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.
The officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the investigation's outcome.
